General Information

Smidt Tech is a free, public charter school that was authorized by the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). As a public charter school, Smidt Tech abides by California State Education Code that requires it to "admit all pupils who wish to attend the school." However, if the number of pupils who wish to attend Smidt Tech exceeds the school's capacity, attendance (except for existing pupils) "shall be determined by a public random drawing."

Students with Disabilities

Smidt Tech welcomes applications from students with disabilities. The Smidt Tech special education program is designed to support students with disabilities. Students who may benefit from our program include, advanced learners, children with specific learning disabilities, or any other variation that calls for assessment, intervention or other individualized program development. The Smidt Tech special education program focuses on inclusive and collaborative models of service delivery. The law requires that, to the maximum extent appropriate, children with disabilities be educated with abled peers in "the least restrictive environment," and Smidt Tech works collaboratively with parents, students, staff, and LAUSD to meet these requirements.
