About Mr. Aguirre

Bienvenidos!

I am back home. I grew up in Lincoln Heights for the first eight years of my life. I remember attending Gates Street Elementary School, playing T-ball at Lincoln Park, and learning how to ride a bike on Thomas Street. My family and I moved to the Los Angeles suburb of Rowland Heights when I was 8, so that it would be easier for my oldest brother to attend Cal State Poly Pomona. Though the majority of my life was spent in Rowland Heights, Lincoln Heights is the foundation of who I am, and I am so very excited to be back and to be teaching at Smidt Tech High School.

From Rowland Heights I moved to Berkeley, CA so I could attend the University of California at Berkeley. ROLL ON YOU BEARS!!! I graduated with a B.A. in English Literature. After working a couple of years at a non-profit, I attended Mills College in Oakland to earn my teaching credential. The year I spent at Mills College was the best educational year of my life. After earning my credential, I began teaching at Berkeley High School. I worked there for four years, and I lived in Berkeley for a total of 12 years.

I became a teacher for many reasons, but the primary reason is to encourage my students' passion for learning. Humans, by nature, are curious -- we want to know, we want to learn -- but sometimes along the road of life that curiosity can be crippled by daily realities. I want to help those students who have lost their passion for learning rediscover it, and for those students who've retained their passion for learning, I want to assist them in achieving their goals. Ultimately, I am here to help all of my Smidt Tech students GO TO COLLEGE.

We are going to have a great year.

Welcome to room 207.
